The Addison Township Board is ready to get to work after the newly-elected board members were officially sworn in during a ceremony held November 10.

“It was an exciting campaign and I really enjoyed it,” said newly-elected Trustee Jacob Newby, following the ceremony. “I’ve gotten to know a lot of people in the township and I’m going to do this job to the best of my ability.”

Newby isn’t the only newcomer to the board. Joel King won a trustee seat as well.

Both will work alongside incumbent trustees Erich Senft and Linda Gierak.

All four trustees were unopposed in the Nov. 8 election. Gierak was the top vote-getter with 2,512. She was followed by King (2,411), Newby (2,364) and Senft (2,334).

Serving with the trustees are Cerk Pauline Bennett, Treasurer Lori Fisher, and Supervisor Bruce Pearson. All three ran unopposed. Pearson received 2,893 votes, Fisher got 2,860 and Bennett 2,858.

All seven township board members are Republicans.

“We have a terrific board once again,” said Pearson. “This township has had the best board the last eight years and I think that everybody on board wants to move the township forward and provide better services for all the citizens.

“The next four years are going to be just as great as the last eight years.”

The first meeting with the new board will take place on November 21 at 6 p.m. at Addison Township Hall (1440 Rochester Rd.) in Lakeville.
