A 21-year-old Groveland Township man was killed in a crash early Sunday morning on Oakwood Rd., east of Coats Rd., in Oxford Township.

Joseph Fuentes was driving a 2001 Lexus 300 west on Oakwood Rd., approaching Coats Rd., when his vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees, according to a statement released by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

After colliding with the trees, the Lexus overturned. Oxford firefighters transported Fuentes to McLaren Oakland hospital in Pontiac where he died a short time later.

It’s unknown whether he was wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol and drugs may have been a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office. The crash remains under investigation.
