While the Oxford/Avondale United Hockey Team started off this season with a shaky start, taking losses in the first three matches, it would appear the team is beginning to find its footing.
Just days after taking their first win of the season against Fenton/Linden, the team won 4-2 at another match against Clarkston at the Detroit Skate Club on Saturday.
With a 2-3 overall standing in the Oakland Athletics Association (OAA) White Division, Head Coach Dan Henzie is confident the team will continue to gain momentum throughout the season.
“I think we’re identifying those areas that we need to improve on,” Henzie explained.
“That’s why you kind of play those first few games, so you can figure out where you need to make those adjustments and improvements and then you work on those factors and practice and try to get prepared for the next game . . .take care of those deficiencies and mistakes. That’s what it’s really all about.”
The team’s next match against Notre Dame Prep will be held Wednesday, January 4 at home at 7:45 p.m.
Home ice for the team is the Troy Sports Center, located at 1819 E. Big Beaver Rd.
