Goodrich girls cross country clinches share of GAC title

It’s all but official.
The Goodrich girls cross country team clinched at least a share of the Genesee Area Conference title for the fifth straight year by defeating New Lothrop 15-52 and Lake Fenton 16-44 in a Sept. 30 meet.
The win improved the Martians’ league record to 8-0 with only the league meet remaining on their schedule.
Kayla O’Mara, Janee Jones, Kaitlin O’Mara and Samantha Minkler took the top four spots for the Martians, with Kayla O’Mara leading the pack with a time of 19:43.
Four Martian runners finished among the top 10 competitiors as Goodrich won the Division II portion of the Flushing Invitational Sept. 26 with 28 points. Bath finished a distant second (103), while Montrose placed third (154).
Kayla O’Mara won the invite, while sister Kaitlin finished second and Jones third. Minkler was the other Goodrich top 10 finisher, placing ninth overall.
The Martians return to action Oct. 7 when they take on Atherton and LakeVille at 4:30 p.m.
