Oxford’s varsity baseball squad handed Stoney Creek two losses in a doubleheader held April 24 on the Wildcats’ turf.
The Cats won the first game 4-2.
Pitcher Mario Scribner threw a complete game with zero earned runs and five strikeouts. He only allowed five hits.
The offense was led by Ben Gingell who went two for three with 1 RBI. Jack Smalley was one for three with a run scored.
In the second game, Stoney Creek fell 3-2 to Oxford thanks to Wildcat pitchers Shae Walters and Even Brunning.
Walters got the win as he pitched four innings and only gave up two earned runs.
Brunning picked up a three-inning save. He allowed two hits and no runs.
The offense was led by Josh Allen who went two for two with a run scored, base on balls and a sacrifice. Braun Mayette had two hits in the game, while Ben Nuss was one for one with two RBIs and a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly.
On April 22, the Cats went 1-1 against Livonia Churchill. They won the first game 8-0, but dropped the second one 8-2.
The Cats will again face Stoney Creek in an April 26 away game beginning at 4:30 p.m.
