Jan. 23: A 30-year-old Oxford man walked into the Oakland County Sheriff’s Oxford substation at 8:41 p.m. to report an incident which had occurred between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. earlier that day. According to the man, he had opened an account on a major dating website and received a message from a woman a few hours later. The woman had allegedly told the man that she wanted to exchange nude photos. After the man sent his photos, the woman allegedly asked the man for his username on social media and then threatened to send the photos to his friends and family to “embarrass him” if he did not give her $200 in prepaid gift cards. The man told her he was calling the cops and she did not message him again after that. Although the photos had not been shared, Sheriff’s deputies advised that the man should call back if they are shared or posted.
