Eight members of the Oxford wrestling team chased their dreams to the Individual Division 1 State Finals and competed at Ford Field last weekend.

Wildcats grapplers competing that day were senior captains Ryan Miller (145) and Sergio Borg (135), Matthew Curtis (103), Ashton Anderson (112), Liam Hillary (119), Trent Myre (152), Caleb Tabert (160) and Austin Schlicht (189).

Six of those Wildcat wrestlers stood their ground and finished with All-State honors including Borg (2nd), Anderson (5th), Myre (6th), Curtis, Hillary, and Miller (7th).

Both Tabert and Schlicht fought all the way to the blood round.

“Our kids, they wrestled their hearts out this weekend. Both of our seniors competed very well. Sergio made the finals and was very close to making the state championship. . . We’re extremely proud of them. They competed like champions this weekend,” said Head Coach Ross Wingert.
