Oxford Township officials last week voted 7-0 to grant final site plan approval for a 26-unit site condominium development to be built in the community’s southeast corner.
It’s named North Oakland Woods and it will be located east of M-24, on the south side of E. Drahner Rd., west of Barr Rd. and north of Indian Lake Rd. Its west side borders the Crossroads for Youth property.
North Oakland Woods will consist of 24 new units spread over four parcels totalling 95.2 acres. The 26-unit total includes two existing houses that will become part of it.
The development will be comprised of detached single-family dwellings sitting on lots ranging from 2.5 to 11.08 acres. This conforms to the current zoning, Suburban Farms (SF-1), which requires lots to be at least 2.5 acres.
North Oakland Woods will have two private roads running through it – Shephards Lane accessible from E. Drahner Rd. and Larkspur Lane accessible from Barr Rd.
Water and sewer services will be provided by individual well and septic systems.
Per township ordinance, a safety path is required to be constructed along the development’s E. Drahner Rd. frontage, however, the developer decided to take advantage of Oxford’s payment-in-lieu-of option.
According to an estimate provided by township engineer Jim Sharpe, it would cost $6,710 to install a safety path there.
Township officials voted 7-0 to allow the developer to utilize the payment-in-lieu-of option. A $6,710 check was presented to Treasurer Joe Ferrari during the meeting.
