On Saturday morning, Oxford Elementary School hosted a regional Academic Games tournament.
Seventy-two students, ranging from third to eighth-grade, competed in the event.
They came from schools in Detroit, Southfield, Utica and Oxford.
Oxford was represented by 13 students from Clear Lake and Oxford elementary schools along with Oxford Middle School.
The Academic Games are designed “stimulate and test student knowledge in a variety of subjects” by having them compete in games centered around math, language arts, social studies and logic, according to the Michigan Leagues of Academic Games.
Oxford’s team will compete in one tournament per month through February in the hopes of making it to the state and national competitions.
