Richard G. May passed away in his home in Oxford on Oct. 31, 2018. He was 74.
Rick will forever be remembered by his loving wife Carlene. He is also survived by his children Chris (Stacy) and Julie McKenzie (Jay), stepson Josh Roberts, grandson Patrick, step grandchildren Braden and Teagan and his loyal dog Cody. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings Jack, Keith (Patty), Ginny Robbins, many nieces and nephews, as well as his dear friends Mark (Sharon) Hanson and John Gierthy. Rick was predeceased by his parents Carl and Thelma, half siblings Carl May and Margaret Glynn and ex-wife Joann.
After graduating from Augusta Military Academy, Rick attended the University of Detroit for two years. He then served as a proud member of the United States Army before becoming a highly successful salesman. Rick had a tremendous love of travel, boating, snowmobiling, fast cars and motorcycles. He was an avid athlete enjoying softball and golf.
Rick loved and lived life to the fullest, leaving no “bucket list.” He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
A memorial visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, on Sunday, Nov. 11 from 3-8 p.m. A memorial service will take place at the Oakwood Community Church, 5791 Oakwood Rd, Ortonville, MI 48462 on Monday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. with visitation beginning at the church at 9:30 a.m. The services will conclude with military honors being rendered by members of the United States Army. Following the memorial service family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. at Lino’s Restaurant, 50 W Tienken Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48306.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
