Get off the lawn!

One creative retail fraud
Oxford Meijer loss prevention employees called Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies around 4 a.m. on Nov. 11 to report an apparent retail fraud in progress. Video cameras captured footage of a 57-year-old Leonard woman dismantling a Shark vacuum and placing it in her cart after taking it off the shelf. The woman also took a power chord from another vacuum of the same make and placed it in her cart, according to the report. The woman then took the vacuum to the section of the store housing humidifiers, removing a humidifier from its box and placing the vacuum parts inside. The footage showed her then taking two more humidifiers and putting them in her cart.
When the woman went to check out, the report states she took out a handmade bar-code for $7.99 and scanned two of the humidifier boxes with it. She did not scan the third box. At that point, loss prevention employees took the items back and allowed her to leave the premises. On her person was also a plumbing snake and an open bag of salt and vinegar chips. At this time, police are seeking an arrest warrant on the woman.
