Lorraine Rose (Kurtz) Happke passed away on Jan. 11, 2019. She was 90.

Lorraine was born Dec. 27, 1928 in Pierz, Minnesota, to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Waytashek) Kurtz.

She was united in marriage on Oct. 16, 1954 to Norbert Theodore Happke; also from Pierz, Minnesota. The couple moved to Oxford, where they raised two children until Norbert’s death in 1967.

Lorraine worked in various jobs throughout her adult life and formerly owned the J&L Party Store in Oakwood. She enjoyed playing cards and baking.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Larry (Pam) Happke, of Oxford, and Linda Bachan (Happke), of Bloomfield Hills; and her two grandchildren John Bachan (Agnieszka) of Alameda, California, and Matthew Bachan (Lana), of Royal Oak; and two great-grandchildren, Sofia and Niko.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert; brother, Richard Kurtz; and sisters, Irene Hoheisel, Florence Eller, Frances Meyer, Viola Senatore, Regina Meyer, LaVerne Kurtz and Bertha Jedlicki.
