Simat family says thanks

Words cannot truly describe the overwhelming support that our family has experienced during this very difficult time following Neil’s passing.

The outreach from this community has been such a blessing.

It is, at times, hard to believe how many people Neil has touched both personally and professionally.

I would especially like to thank all of our first-responders – police, fire and EMS. A special thank you to Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Topacio and Deputy Randy Leppek. You showed me such compassion during an emotional and tragic time.

Also, we would like to express a great deal of gratitude to Valor (Amanda MacFarland), Lumber Mac (Josh MacFarland) along with the McNeil, Bouquet, Pieczynski, Kimmel and Corrion families for all of their love and support.

Whether you sent a card or message, called or reached out to us, came to Neil’s service, donated, said a prayer or simply thought of our family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I would like to end with a quote from Oxford Schools Superintendent Tim Throne – “Go forth with thankfulness and forth knowing that your family, friends and the community of Oxford is cheering you on whereever you go.”

With tremendous gratitude and love,

Colleen, Austin and Travis Simat

Editor’s Note: Oxford Village resident Neil Simat, 56, was killed in a head-on collision at the intersection of Seymour Lake and Dunlap roads on March 23.
