What was supposed to be a two-match week was shortened to one after Oxford’s home meeting with Ferndale on Sept. 10 was postponed due to inclement weather.

Fortunately, Mother Nature allowed the boys to get their match in with the Southfield A&T Warriors on Sept. 12, and the results were excellent.

An absolute domination, the Wildcats swept Southfield A&T, 8-0, winning every match in two-sets. With the win, the team moves to 2-0 in OAA play – tied with Avondale atop the Blue division standings.

Thanks to the outstanding play of top doubles team, senior Dane and junior Silas VonAllmen, and top singles player, senior Hayden Durant, the Wildcats have put themselves in position to accomplish one of their preseason goals: Win the OAA Blue.

In a coincidence of perfect timing, Oxford travels to Avondale on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Looking to remain undefeated in league play, the winner will have the inside track for the Blue division title.

Oxford is next in action at home on Monday, Sept. 23 when the Wildcats host the Lakeland Eagles.
