It’s hard to say what was sweeter Saturday afternoon at the Addison Twp. Public Library – the mouth-watering baked goods or the eye-popping vintage vehicles.

Folks gathered in Lakeville to participate in the Sixth Annual Classic Car and Cupcake Challenge.

There was no shortage of award-winners as amateur bakers and auto aficionados competed.

Michele Poppe’s chocolate cupcakes won first place in the adult baking competition. Jade Kindermann placed second with her cupcakes containing peanut butter centers.

In the youth baking contest, Logan Poppe’s cupcakes with sprinkles took first place, while Sarah Phelps earned second with her vanilla and buttercream frosting cupcakes.

On the car side, Don Olson’s Ford Station Wagon (Woodie) won first place. Second place went to Chuck Peringian for his 1955 Chevy Bel Air Nomad. Bill Jarski’s 1957 Cushman Eagle motorcycle took third place.

The event raised $376 to help build a new 5,000-square-foot library in Addison.
