Competing in the second OAA Jamboree at Lake Orion High School on Tuesday, Sept. 24, both the boys’ and girls’ Wildcat cross country teams finished in fourth-place.
Totaling a score of 80, the boys were led by senior Scott Masterson who finished fourth at 16:43.9. Three other Wildcats – senior Zach Allion (14th), junior Zach Patterson (17th) and senior Simon Arnold (20th) – came in the top-20.
From a team standpoint, Rochester Adams took home the top spot with a score of 32. Individually, Lake Orion senior Andrew Nolan was the fastest runner on the course at 16:10.2.
Based on their performance in the two Jamborees thus far, the Oxford boys are tied for fourth-place in the OAA Red with five points, six points behind division leader Adams.
Transitioning to the girls, they posted a score of 92 at Lake Orion. Senior Lauren Methner paced the squad with her time of 20:35.7, good for a fifth-place finish. Junior Ellie DiMalanta was the only other Wildcat girl in the top-20 at 21:49.6 (19th).
Like in the boys’ race, a Lake Orion runner captured the top individual spot. Victorious by over 19.5 seconds, Dragons junior Sophie Novak crossed the finish line in 19:12.1.
The Troy Colts won the girls’ meet with a score of 54. Compiling six points at this stage in the season, the Wildcat girls are in fourth-place in the OAA Red, too.
The teams will next be in action in the Oakland County Championships at Kensington Metropark on Saturday, Oct. 5.
