On Tuesday morning, Lynn Sutfin, public information officer for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, confirmed that Beaumont is appealing the state’s Sept. 30 proposed decision to reject its certificate-of-need application to build a 117-bed hospital on M-24 in Oxford Township.
“We heard from Beaumont that they filed, but we do not yet have the official notice from the (Michigan Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules),” she wrote in an email.
Beaumont released this statement: “We are committed to providing health care in Oxford. We filed an appeal with the state of Michigan regarding its recent determination that our application did not comply with the requirements to meet the established need for a hospital in the Oxford limited access area, despite our application being filed in response to their defined need. We have land under agreement, and we’re eager to serve the community.”
Great news! What can we as residents do to help? We need this hospital!
