Competing in the Oakland Activities Association Red Division championship meet at Clintonwood Park in
Clarkston on Oct. 17, the Oxford Wildcats boys’ cross country team took home a fourth-place finish, while the girls’ totaled a fifth-place showing.
Scoring 88 points, the boys finished just five points behind the Lake Orion Dragons for third-place. Senior Scott Masterson paced the team in sixth place individually at 16:32.7.
Junior Zach Patterson (16th), senior Zach Allion (17th), senior Simon Arnold (24th) and freshman Xavier Clark (25th) also contributed to the Wildcats’ effort.
Claiming four of the top-five spots, the Clarkston Wolves cruised to a league
championship with a score of 26. The Rochester Adams Highlanders were the runner-up with 54 points.
On the girls’ side, senior Lauren Methner came in seventh at 19:33.8. Crossing the line in 20:36.7, junior Ellie DiMalanta also finished in the top-20.
Regarding the girls team’s depth and consistency, sophomores Natalie Schiller,
Jessa Chapin and senior Paige Miller finished in succession, 23rd-24th-25th.
Registering 102 points, the girls came in behind Troy, Rochester Adams, Clarkston and Birmingham Seaholm.
At their final race of the season on Oct. 26, the teams will compete at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Regional meet at Goodells Park in Algonac.
