Rounding out league play, the Oxford Wildcat volleyball team traveled to Beverly Hills and dispatched the Groves Falcons in four-sets on Oct. 17.

Winning the first set, 25-22, Oxford pulled away in the second set, 25-18. After the Falcons took set number three, 25-23, the Wildcats sealed the deal with a 25-16 fourth set victory.

Finishing 2-5 in division play, Oxford tied with the Troy Colts for sixth-place in the Oakland Activities Association Red Division. A flawless 7-0, the Clarkston Wolves were the OAA Red champion.

Competing in the “Beast of the East” tournament at Michigan Elite Volleyball Academy in Warren on Oct. 19, the girls faced some stiff competition in their preparation for Michigan High School Athletic Association district play.

Beginning the tournament against the OAA White champion Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks, the Wildcats were defeated in two-sets, 25-21, 25-18.

After bouncing back with consecutive victories over the Northville Mustangs and Romeo Bulldogs, Oxford closed their day with a loss to the Stoney Creek Cougars.

Occupying third place in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association West, the win over Northville is one of the Wildcats’ most impressive of the season.

Needing a win to keep their season alive, Oxford will play the Waterford Kettering Captains in their district opener at Lake Orion High School on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Tied with the Waterford Mott Corsairs at the bottom of the KLAA East standings, the Captains are winless (0-12) this season.
