On the evening of Nov. 26, a 58-year-old Leonard woman was the victim of a pedestrian accident in downtown Oxford.
According to Oxford Village Police reports, at 7:13 p.m., the victim and her husband attempted to cross Washington St. from the area of the Ox Bar and Grill to the area of The Oxford Tap without using a crosswalk. At that time a 2017 Chevrolet Trax driven by a 61-year-old Oxford Township woman was traveling northbound in the right lane on Washington St. when she struck the Leonard woman with her vehicle. The driver reported she was traveling at the posted speed limit of 30 mph at the time of the accident.
A witness to the accident who was also traveling northbound in the left lane stated that she had almost hit the couple as well when they crossed in front of her vehicle however, she was able to stop in time before the pair continued heading east into the next lane where the accident occurred.
Reports state that distracted driving, drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident.
The victim was transported by ambulance to McLaren Oakland in Pontiac. Her condition was unknown at the time of publication.
