Oxford High School hosted Oxford Rotary Club’s annual Christmas luncheon for senior citizens on Dec. 11, from 11:30 to 12:30 in the Performing Arts Center lobby.
The OHS chamber orchestra performed holiday tunes in the lobby while guests arrived. The jazz band took over from the balcony while the guests enjoyed a catered holiday meal and pie for dessert.
Guests were waited on by National Honors Society and Leadership students.
Former club president and member of 25 years, Bob Warnke offered the invocation, introduced Santa, and co-lead the crowd in an impromptu a capella chorus of “Jingle Bells.”
Santa made his rounds distributing candycanes and peppermints, making sure to visit with each guest individually.
“(The luncheon) was great,” said Warnke. “Nice turn out. The school does a fine job with it and the Rotarians are glad to sponsor it.”
