Utility work on M-24 is wrapping up and taking a break before the actual reconstruction work begins in earnest this April.
Consumers Energy has finished its gasline relocation work between Drahner Rd. and Stanton St. Consumers will finish its work between Stanton and Harriet St. from about March 2 to April 1. During this time, right lanes will be closed in both directions 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Due to the company’s contracts, it had to layoff temporary workers for a month, so they are taking a break.
AT&T will continue its work at Stanton and Oakdell streets. They plan to finish by Feb. 21.
DTE has finished all its power pole relocations, but still has two streetlights to relocate after Consumers finishes.
The reconstruction project is currently out for bid. The bid will be selected Feb. 21. The project should commence in April, beginning with the Drahner intersection, then working north.
The next M-24 townhall meeting is scheduled for Feb. 17 in the community room at Oxford Village offices. More information and updates can be found at RestoreM-24.com
