Karey Lynn Collins, age 50, of Oxford passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 after a five-year battle with cervical cancer. Karey was born in Jackson, Michigan on August 22, 1969, to Willard and Pauline Anderson. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Grand Valley State University in 1991. On September 7, 1996 she married Tim Collins, also from Jackson. They have two daughters, that she was extremely proud of, Cameron and Taylor.
Karey was a professional jewelry designer, artist, amazing friend, and loving mother. Karey was extremely outgoing and an active member of the community, where she ran her art studio, Merge. She was an accomplished cyclist, with many wins and podium finishes in mountain bike and road racing since the mid 90’s. She was also a lifelong runner, completed several marathons, and held the high-jump record at GVSU for many years.
Karey was proceeded in death by her father Willard and mother, Pauline. She is survived by her husband Tim, two children, Cameron and Taylor; sisters Deana (Ron) Thompson, Susan (Melvin) Embody, Christi (Mike) O’Reilly; brothers Jim (Joyce) Anderson, Bill (Debbie) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
A “Celebration of Life” ceremony will at their home, 5895 Allison Ct, Oxford, MI 48371, on July 31, 2020, from 1-3 p.m. Arrangements trusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Home.
