Cancer doesn’t stop for a pandemic. Every day, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) continues its lifesaving work to fight cancer through public policy.
Like most individuals I have had several family members battle cancer and I have been a volunteer driver taking cancer patients to and from their treatments and have seen the battle these people have endured. This experience compelled me to become part of the ACS CAN team, and further their life saving mission. Right now, due to COVID related fundraising declines, that mission is threatened like never before.
The good news is, there are generous organizations out there stepping up to help ACS CAN during this difficult time. I want to thank Powers Distributing of Lake Orion for sponsoring ACS CAN “Lights of Hope Across America” event taht took place coast to coast on September 12.
Thanks in part to Powers Distributing’s generous support, hundreds of luminary bags will be displayed across Michigan to honor cancer patients and survivors, and ACS CAN is armed with additional resources to advocate for cancer research funding, access to healthcare and other priorities.
