Michigan author Celia Ryker will share her adventures of hiking Vermont’s Long Trail, tomorrow night (Thursday) at seven o’clock. She is the author of “Walking Home; Trail Stories,” a collection of stories about her hike of the 273-mile trek from the Massachusetts border to the Canadian border. The program is at the Oxford Public Library.
Despite her health challenges, at age 60 Ryker was determined to train. Hiking the trail brought back a lot of thought about her childhood, family and life. She kept a journal of these stories and shares them in her book which she hopes inspires people to live life to the fullest.
She has written articles for newsletters, local newspapers, and The Vermont League of Writers. Walking Home is Celia’s first book.
Registration is required for this program. Visit www.miopl.org for registration information, or call the library’s adult services desk at 248-628-3034.
