Dear Editor,
Enough cannot be said to give proper accolades to the Oxford girls cross country program and what they have accomplished this undefeated season. The Oxford community should be very proud of their most successful athletic program at Oxford High School this Fall. They have won the Oakland County Championship for the first time in school history – either girls or boys – in one of the strongest counties in the state of Michigan for their sport. They have won the OAA Red in dominating fashion, a traditional powerhouse cross country conference. And now, in dominating fashion, they have won their Regional Championship, and will be traveling to State Finals next weekend to battle the very best teams from across the State of Michigan.
A tip of the hat goes out to Coach Norm Petersimes, who has rebuilt the program to the highest level since he first took over in 2016, and to Coach Sarah Canham, who has come on board and supplied the team with that extra boost that they needed to get them over the top. And of course to the lady athletes that worked so hard to be the very best they could be this season.
Best of luck to them all at State,
Donald C. Richmond
