It is with heavy hearts that we mark the passing of Charles Frederick Hetherington, known to everyone as “Cork” on April 4 at his home in Los Angeles, California just a few days short of his 89th birthday.

Born April 13, 1933 to Ray and Margery Hetherington, he was the oldest of four siblings and grew up in Pontiac.
After finishing his education at the University of Michigan, Cork joined the Navy Reserve. When his service was completed, he joined Bank of America. His illustrious career with B of A took him all over the world and he found himself stationed in London, Sydney, New York, San Francisco and finally in Los Angeles with the North American Division where he was in charge of the banks Aerospace Financing Group.
Cork was a true gentleman, and his kind and outgoing personality earned him numerous friends wherever he lived. His friends remember him as an avid and excellent tennis player and a collector of antique automobiles.
Cork is survived by his sister Nancy Hutchinson of Chandler, AZ, several nieces and nephews and his longtime friend and companion Lars Hansson. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert “Bobby” Hetherington and sister Sara Ann Baker.
Internment will take place at a later date at Ridgelawn Memorial Cemetery on W. Burdick Street in Oxford.
Cork will be greatly missed and long remembered.
