Oxford Addison Youth Assistance accepting nominations for Youth Recognition awards

Oxford – Addison Youth Assistance’s Youth Recognition Night is an annual event that acknowledges, celebrates, and honors Oxford, Addison, and Leonard youth who have volunteered their time helping others. Honorees will be recognized at the Annual Youth Recognition Award Event on Friday, May 12, at Seymour Lake Township Park. The organization is now accepting nominations for these awards.

Students are recognized for personal achievements, simple acts of kindness in the classroom and school, and charitable work in Michigan or nationwide. Youth are selected for this honor for their active involvement in making Oxford a better place and helping others.

Nominations are received from schools, community organizations, civic leaders, members of the faith community, and community members. Nominees can be kindergarteners through seniors. Students must be an Oxford Community School District resident, attend Oxford Community Schools, or attend a private school or be home-schooled. No monetary compensation, class projects for academic credit, or court-ordered community service is eligible for recognition.

Nominations will be accepted through April 6.

Does a youth that you know come to mind when you hear one of the following? Compassionate, tutors’ peers or younger students, helps new students, reliable helper, generous, an emerging leader, peer advocate, a quiet leader, a friend in a time of need, enriches the community, thoughtful, volunteers for a local organization, promotes healthy choices, mediates conflict, helps those less fortunate or has a humanitarian heart – these students can be nominated.

According to a release from the organization, “We have moved to an electronic nomination process so all nominees must be nominated by completing an electronic nomination form.”
