NOTICE
Oxford Community Schools
Oxford Community Schools is seeking applicants for one (1) vacant position on the Board of
Education. An individual will be appointed to serve in the position until December 31, 2024.
The State of Michigan General School Laws states that board member vacancies shall be filled
within 30 days from the effective date of a resignation. The vacancy shall be filled with a legally
qualified person who is appointed by vote of the remaining members of the board at a regular or
special meeting of the board. The person appointed to fill a vacancy shall file acceptance of the
office, with the secretary of the board, and shall take the oath of office as prescribed by law. The
appointee shall hold office until December 31, 2024.
Guidelines for interested parties include the following:
QUALIFICATIONS: U. S. Citizen, 18 years of age, registered voter, and resident
of the Oxford Community School District.
NOTICE OF INTEREST: Applicants must submit a letter of interest and application to the
Office of the Superintendent, at Vickie.markavitch@oxfordschools.org , or at the Board of
Education Office, Office of the Superintendent, 10 N. Washington St., Oxford MI 48371 by
Friday, June 23, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. Applications may be downloaded from the district
website www.oxfordschools.org or picked up at the Board of Education Office 8:30 – 4:30
Monday through Friday.
TERM OF OFFICE: Appointee shall serve on the Board of Education until December
31, 2024.
INTERVIEW PROCESS: The board will review submitted materials and select candidates to
interview at a SPECIAL meeting of the Oxford Board of Education on Tuesday, June 27 at 5:00
p.m. at the Oxford Middle School, 1420 Lakeville Rd., Oxford, MI. Following a review of the
submitted materials, the board will schedule interviews with selected candidates. Please note that
not all candidates will be interviewed.
INTERVIEWS/APPOINTMENT PROCESS: Public interviews will be held at a SPECIAL
meeting of the Oxford Board of Education on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. at the Oxford
Middle School, 1420 Lakeville Rd., Oxford, MI. The board will discuss and vote on the
appointment of an individual. The new member will be appointed and seated after the board
vote.
POST-APPOINTMENT: The board appointee shall take the oath of office as prescribed by law.
