This running club is a 10-week program that teaches third through fifth grade girls about having positive self-talk, being a good friend and empowering themselves while navigating life all while training to run a 5K race at the end of the season.

β€œGirls on the Run has been at Lakeville for seven years — having taken a break during COVID — and has always been run under head coach Holly Leckrone,” deCardenas said.

The Lakeville group meets on Mondays and Thursdays right after school. Girls on the Run is a national non-profit organization which has served more than 2 million girls and has over 170 councils nationwide.
