This month is the last month for Oxford School Board President Dan D’Alessandro. In May, he announced he would retire from the board after the last board meeting of the month, June 27. D’Alessandro is moving outside of the district boundaries and is not eligible to serve on the OCS School Board. As of July 1, current board Vice President Heather Shafer will become acting president. By law the school board has 30 days to appoint a “qualified individual” from the community to fulfill the remainder of the term being vacated, Dec. 31, 2024.
Those interested in filling the vacancy, should submit a notice of their interest and application, in writing, to the Superintendent Dr. Vickie Markavitch. The notice and application can be mailed or delivered to the school’s administration building, 10 N. Washington St. Oxford, MI 48371. Deadline for the letter of interest and application is 4 p.m. on June 23.
