Martin “Tom” Thomas Sustarich, 80, of Royal Oak, passed away on July 11, 2023. Tom was born on August 21, 1942 to Martin and Yvonne Sustarich in Detroit. After graduating from Royal Oak Kimball High School, he enjoyed a long career maintaining the heating and refrigeration systems for the J.L. Hudson Company in their flagship store downtown as well as the Lakeside Mall location.  In 1967, he married Noel Eberle and they built a loving family with their two sons, Tom and Aaron.

Tom enjoyed painting, hot rods, cruising Woodward, animals (especially pandas), the Upper Peninsula, local history, and of course “anything heavy and rusty.”

Tom was well liked by everyone who knew him. His wit and wisdom helped define his character and his collecting interests were legendary. He cherished his grandchildren and he dearly missed his parents and sister.

Tom is survived by his two sons, Thomas (Angela) and Aaron (Kristen) and his three grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew and Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Yvonne and his sister Patricia.

A Memorial Service will be at Guardian Angels Catholic Church – 581 14 Mile Rd. – Clawson, MI 48017 on July 22, 2023 at noon (in state at 11:30 am). In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Disabled American Veterans.
