A night at the theater

Hundreds of visitors gathered for the grand opening of Oxford High School’s new Performing Arts Center Feb. 3.
The completion of the new 800-seat auditorium marks the end of the major components of the 2001 school bond building projects. Opening night visitors were treated to stellar performances by the Symphonic Band, Chorale, Choralaires, varisty and junior varsity dance teams, drama students and the Oxford Middle School Thunder Drummers. Outside the theater auditorium in the two-story lobby, artwork created by talented OHS students was displayed.
All schools in the district will present student performances in the new theater while a revised community use policy will allow community productions to make use of the new facility as well.
