Improving their record to 3-0, Oxford’s boys’ varsity basketball team overcame Rochester Adams 49-40 on Dec. 4.
The boys led Rochester Adams for the entirety of the game, cruising to a win. Head Coach Steve Laidlaw said senior guard Nolan Hiler played exceptionally with 14 points and holding Rochester Adams’ lead scorer to just 11 points.
Laidlaw said senior forward Michael Raisch and junior forward Trey Townsend also put in solid offensive efforts throughout the game. Raisch put 12 points on the board and contributed a number of assists while Townsend put up eight points while playing a strong rebound game.
On the defensive end, the team was led by sophomore guard Zach Townsend and senior forward Dujoun Williams. Aside from defending their hoop, both boys put up important 3-pointers to keep the Wildcats in the lead throughout all four quarters.
After taking on Waterford Kettering at home on Dec. 11, the boys will travel for the first time this season to go head to head with Royal Oak on Dec. 18.
