The Wildcat bowling teams took on the Troy Athens Red Hawks at a game held Feb. 2, ultimately coming out on top.
The boys bowling team, ranked fifth in the state, won 28-2 against the Hawks that night.
Oxford stormed the Hawks with baker games of 226 and 234. The team also won eight of the 10 head up matches.
Jimmy Dehmel led Oxford with scores of 236 and 219. Christian Cartner bowled games of 213 and 240.
Will Fallon scored with a 236, Luke Meyer and Tanner Cartner both bowled 204, and Michael Saroli scored 209.
The Wildcats moved back into first place in the OAA Red Division, with two matches to go in the season.
The team is now 9-1 overall.
“The team bowled very well tonight. In game 2, we bowled a season high and everyone contributed. This season has been a real joy and this team has improved leaps and bounds. I feel great going into the final few weeks,” said Head Coach JR Lafnear.
Oxford’s Lady Wildcats won 28-2 against the Hawks that night.
The team, currently ranked fourth in the state, struggled in the baker games but won both games to take control of the match.
Megan Armbruster, a sophomore, shot a game of 265 and tossed eight strikes in a row.
Megan Kessler, senior co-captain, followed that up in game 2 with a score of 184. Kessler shot 200 in game 1, then she shot a 237 in game 2. Kessler is averaging over 210 on the season.
The girls are now 9-0 overall and remain undefeated and atop the OAA Red division with Lake Orion.
“This team did a nice job tonight. Both (Megan Kessler and Megan Armbruster) shot big scores but the others had solid numbers, as well. The team is bowling well and should be ready for the Thursday showdown with Lake Orion,” said Lafnear.
Up next, both teams will compete against Lake Orion in a home game held on Feb 9 at 4 p.m.
