The Goodrich basketball team left nothing to chance against host Mt. Morris Sept. 23.
The Martians jumped out to a 23-2 lead after one quarter and never looked back on their way to a 61-23 win in Genesee Area Conference Red Division action. Goodrich improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the GAC Red.
Marybeth Barns and Shannon Harbin led the Martians with 10 points apiece, while Jacci Brothers added nine.
On Sept. 18, the Martians, buoyed by a 26-point fourth quarter outburst, defeated Byron 69-37.
Nykole Pfaff led Goodrich with 17 points, while Andrea Tubbs added 11 points, seven steals and five assists. Julie Owen dished out five assists and Harbin grabbed eight rebounds.
Goodrich’s next contest is Tuesday, Sept. 30 when they host Montrose.
