Bonfire benefit

Ortonville- Persons 21 and older are invited to a bonfire to benefit Jonny Masters and his family, at 7 p.m., today, July 28, at 336 South St.
In September 2005, at the age of 10, Jonny was diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a genetic brain disease that has destroyed white matter in his brain and left him severely handicapped. The former Brandon Fletcher Intermediate School student has lost his ability to see, walk, or talk. His hearing is impaired.
Jonny’s parents, Steve and Elisa Masters, hope to have their son receive stem cells, which could rebuild neurons and nerve connections and possibly restore some functions for Jonny. The family’s medical insurance does not cover the cost for this procedure.
Cost is $15 per person and includes food, beverages, live music and more.
Details: (248) 444-9768.
