The Wildcats soccer team took one win and one loss last week.
On September 21, the Wildcats beat Flushing with a 1-0 score
Due to inclement weather the game between Oxford and Flushing was called complete after halftime.
Sophomore Chris Escalante scored the lone goal of the game on a beautiful left-footed shot to the far post with only a few minutes left to play.
Freshman Nathan Vaquera, sophomore Tyler Dejong, junior Jesus Escalante and senior Mitchel Morawski kept the defense tight and rarely allowed the Raiders any clear chance on goal.
On September 19, the Cats fell to the Maples of Seaholm at a with a 1-0 score.
Oxford and the Maples were held scoreless in the first half with very few opportunities on goal. Freshman keeper Tristan Bennett made a few keys saves to keep Seaholm off the board.
The half ended 0-0.
Oxford fell behind on a quick goal by the Maples but began to apply pressure on the Seaholm goal with a few changes on positions.
Oxford came close on a few occasions but could not convert. Captain Mitchel Morawski, freshman Nathan Vaquera, sophomore Tyler Dejong and junior Jesus Escalante played very well on defense.
On Sept. 26, Oxford heads back to league play against Royal Oak at home at 7 p.m.
