The Wildcats varsity soccer team took a 4-0 loss against Bloomfield Hills on Sept. 12, but tied with the Tigers of Fenton Sept. 14.
The first half was a back and forth affair with numerous chances from both sides. Fenton would get on the board first only to have the Wildcats score on a free kick from senior captain Mitchel Morawski to tie the game.
The Tigers would add another goal before half to go up 2-1. Oxford stormed back and got a goal from junior Mario Palacios on an assist from freshman Pedro Bottene.
Fenton would take the lead again to go up 3-2, but Oxford rallied right back on a goal from senior Miguel Magdaleno-Rodriguez assisted from Palacios to tie it up at 3-3.
The night got more interesting as Fenton scored again to go up 4–3 with less than 20 minutes left to play. Not five minutes later, Palacios would get his second goal of the night to tie the game at 4–4. With both sides on the attack, both keepers were on their toes and thwarted future efforts to make another goal.
Freshman Tristan Bennett and senior Matthew Black each split time in goal and did a great job tending to the net.
The team is now 1-7-2 overall.
On Sept. 21, the Cats will compete against Flushing on the home field at 7 p.m.
