Wildcat soccer brought two wins home this week as the team prepares for the end of the season. After this week, just five games stand between the Wildcats and the beginning of district finals.
The team took a big 4-1 win over Anchor Bay away on Sept. 27. Midfielder Christopher Escalante, forward Zachary Townsend, midfielder Mario Palacios and midfielder Perdro Bottene scored the four goals for Oxford.
Though the game was a strong offensive performance for the Wildcats, head coach John Thaler noted that “the defense had a solid game” and was a big reason the wide margin for the win was possible.
A few days earlier on Sept. 25, the Wildcats took a 2-1 win over Royal Oak on the road for the second time. Forward Nicholas Morawski scored the team’s two goals.
These games put Oxford 8-4-2 overall. After a game at home against Groves on Oct. 2, the Wildcats will hit the road again to compete at Kettering on Oct. 4.
