The Wildcats now lead their boys lacrosse league undefeated thanks to a four-game winning streak. Rochester and Avondale are the latest on Oxford’s list of defeats.
Oxford celebrated its first shutout win of the season on April 18 with a 14-0 victory over Avondale.
“Tonight, the defense didn’t let a shot in,” Head Coach Shawn Regan said of the strong defensive game.
On the scoreboard, juniors Matt Pullman and Logan Vachon led the Wildcats.
The boys started the week with a dominating 11-1 win over Rochester. In the high-scoring game, the Wildcats were led by Pullman. Regan said the midfield stamina of freshman Luke Grove, sophomore John Wandrie, junior Nathan Watt, sophomore Jake Dawood and Vachon has continually been key and “has gotten stronger every game.”
Defensively, senior captains Sam Barrott and Thomas Wandrie led the way. Regan added that goal keeping was a big reason for the wide scoring margin.
“It all starts with goalie play, and freshman Eric Paternoster has kept us in every game,” he said.
Oxford is now 5-2 overall and undefeated 4-0 in the OAA. The boys hosted Romeo on April 23 after the Leader went to press. They will play next on April 25 when they host Stoney Creek.
