Brandon Twp.- Calling all crafters: Get ready.
After a five-year break, the Brandon Boutique is coming back. The local one-day craft fair will return this fall.
‘I feel good about bringing this back,? said Brandon Recreation Director Fred Waybrant. ‘It will be good for that time of the year. There is a lot of Christmas atmosphere. ? The Brandon Boutique was an annual craft fair from 2002-2005, usually held on a Saturday in November. It was a runoff from the H.T. Burt Boutique craft fair that ran for more than 20 years prior to being turned over to the recreation department.
Waybrant said one of the reasons the Brandon Boutique ended five years ago was because the revenue that was generated for the recreation department didn’t quite meet expectations for the amount of work required to put on the show.
Waybrant hopes to get about 75 vendors for the craft fair this year, which will likely be held at the Brandon High School gymnasium, 1025 S. Ortonville Road.
Vendors will be able to purchase 10×10 booth space at a cost of about $30. They can bring their own table or rent tables at an additional cost. Booth fees benefit the parks and recreation department.
The only requirement of vendors is that they sell only homemade items, which can include, but is not limited to, quilts, birdhouses, walking canes, hats, paintings, pottery, ceramics, jewelry, and holiday ornaments, decorations, etc.
The craft fair is great for holiday shoppers, Waybrant noted.
‘You get good deals on early Christmas shopping, it gets you in the Christmas spirit, and it supports what we are trying to do with the township park,? he said.
Waybrant is looking for volunteers to help plan the Brandon Boutique. For more information, call 248-627-4640.
