Brandon bus drivers ink new contract with district

Brandon Twp.- The school board approved at their Dec. 14 meeting a new contract with Teamsters Local 214 representing 29 bus drivers and two mechanics in the district.
Highlights of the contract, which expires June 30, include a pay freeze and a reduction in insurance coverage. Healthcare deductibles have increased to $100 for individuals and $200 per family for a year, with a $10 co-pay for office visits.
‘With the economy the way it is, we didn’t have a problem taking a few concessions,? said Debbie Allen, union steward for the bus drivers. ‘We’re really glad to have a job and still be working. Everyone needs to help a little and it’s a win-win situation for both of us.?
