A 32-year-old Brandon Township man has been arraigned on charges related to an attempted escape from police last month.
Jeremy Michael Heath was arraigned on a felony charge of fleeing and eluding, third degree, as well as a misdemeanor charge of receiving and concealing stolen property on July 17 at 52-2 District Court.
Heath and Ortonville resident Jacqueline Marie Horn, 22, were arrested on July 16 in the 1000 block of Oakwood Road, with duffel bags and clothing loaded in their vehicle.
Horn was arraigned on July 16 on misdemeanor charges of driving while license suspended and domestic assault.
According to police reports, Brandon deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Brandon Hills Drive at about 7:45 p.m. on June 17 for a man with a gun in an older model green van with rust. The deputies spotted the green van while on Oakwood Road and activated emergency lights to make a stop, but the van accelerated away, turning on to Wind Ridge Drive and continuing a quarter-mile to where the road came to a deadend and turning into a driveway.
The first deputy on the scene observed two men running from the vehicle in a swamp area. He commanded them to stop at gunpoint and after several commands, the suspect later identified as Heath complied. The second suspect was located by deputies and K-9 Bodi.
In the area, the deputies found seven new dvds and an LCD TV/dvd player. When Heath was interviewed, he admitted he stole the items from the Oxford Meijer store.
