Brandon Twp.- After a year of workshops and lengthy, sometimes contentious discussions, the township board has a 2011 budget to present to residents.
A public hearing on the 2011 budget will be held during the next township board meeting, set for 7:30 p.m., Dec. 6, at the township offices, 395 Mill St. The budget will be available for the public after 4 p.m., Nov. 24, at the clerk’s office.
‘After everything is all said and done, each department will realize reductions,? said Supervisor Kathy Thurman. ‘The biggest change is we added another $16,000 into the road chloriding program, allowing us to do more chloride applications to more heavily used secondary roads.?
Thurman said she hopes that the budget will be approved during the Dec. 6 meeting after the public hearing. Treasurer Terry Beltramo said he still has questions about the budget, including employee reductions, and whether there is money to pay for the sledding hill lift station at the community park.
‘I’m pretty sure the majority of the board thinks the budget is complete and ready to be approved,? he said. ‘I think there are too many things left unanswered.?
