Brandon Twp. Ok new assessment co.

Brandon Twp.? By a 5-2 vote the township board approved a one-year $56,000 contract for Kimberly Feigley of Municipal Appraisal Services, Inc. as the new township assessor.
Feigley will begin the job of on April 1, determining the state equalized values of new buildings, doing regular maintenance of the assessment roll, maintaining files and helping the public with property splits and questions they may have.
Feigley will be responsible for the 6,000 parcels of land in the township, although the number of assessments she actually works on during the year depends on the number of permits pulled and the amount of growth the township has.
‘I am excited to be back in Oakland County,? said Feigley, who grew up in Independence Township and currently assesses property in Mayfield Township in Lapeer County. A state licensed appraiser, Michigan licensed realtor and Level III Property Assessor, Feigley has 25 years of assessing experience.
Township Supervisor Ron Lapp, Ortonville Village Manager Paul Zelenak and township employee Pam Scherer interviewed three prospective candidates after receiving bids for the position, open since Landmark Appraisal Company decided not to renew their contract last fall.
‘She is extremely well-qualified and I’m pleased to get her on board,? said Lapp. ‘She comes highly recommended and we feel she will blend very well with our staff.?
Oakland County has been the assessor since Nov. 20 and will continue through the end of this month, at a cost of $30,000? what Landmark charged for a whole year. The county offered to continue assessing, but at a cost of about $93,000 per year, well above what Feigley offered.
