Brandon Twp – On Oct. 15, a 13-year old Brandon Township boy will stand trial on five counts of home invasion.
The youth was arrested on Oct. 2, after his mother called the Brandon Sheriff substation stating her son had placed several items that did not belong to him under his sister’s bed.
The youth had not been living at his mother’s home for the past two weeks, but his sister saw him putting the items under her bed, after a recent neighborhood crime spree of breaking and entering.
Because there had been several burglaries in the area, Detective Brad Teague located the youth and questioned him as to where the items came from.
Teague said the youth allegedly confessed to taking the items.
The youth is being detained at Oakland County Children’s Village, waiting to face a pretrial examination of one count first degree home invasion, two counts of second degree home invasion, and two counts of receiving and concealing stolen property.
‘He’s already confessed,? said Teague, ‘so I don’t know whether he’ll face a pretrial or not.?
The charges could bring a maximum confinement sentence until the youth is 18 years of age.
Teague said police do not suspect the youth was involved in more than the five home invasions, and all the items stolen from the five homes have been recovered. Three families have picked up their belongings, with the exception of a bracelet which is still missing.
Currently the youth is being held on a $50,000, ten percent bond and no bail has been posted.
