$50,000 grant application sent

Over the weekend, Oxford Township submitted an application to the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan for a $50,000 grant to pay for the topographical survey and engineering design for the future construction of a 5,500-linear-foot asphalt safety path along the west side of N. Oxford Rd. (from the high school to Ray Rd.) and the south side of Ray Rd. (from N. Oxford Rd. to M-24).
According to the township’s release, “Being shovel-ready will make the project more attractive and competitive when it comes to pursuing other outside funding sources to help cover construction costs. Township engineer Jim Sharpe estimates the entire project, including the $50,000 for survey and design, will cost $590,100.”
The $50,000 being sought is from the Design and Access Fund, part of the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds. The Design and Access Fund is for projects related to increasing the walkability and bikeability of local communities and/or increasing outdoor recreational activities within the region.
