Cagers net first wins of season

The Oxford Wildcat hoopsters got their first two wins of the season last week.
The boys kicked the week off with a 61-57 victory over the Lapeer Lightning.
‘The Lapeer game was a back-and-forth battle right up to the end,? said Head Coach Dave Brown. ‘The boys were able to finish and hit shots and free throws at the end to get us our first win.?
The Wildcats were led by Jordan Jaden with 27 points and Ray Luvine with 19 Points.?
On Friday, the boys kept the momentum going and defeated Farmington 71-54, which was also their first league win.
‘The Farmington game was much the same (as the Lapeer game),? Brown explained. ‘It was a tie ball game at the end of the third. Both teams were in foul trouble early in the fourth. We were able as a team to knock down our free throws when it counted.?
In the fourth quarter, Oxford’s defense sunk 15 of 17 at the free-throw line. Scoring leaders were once again Jaden with 22 and Luvine with 20.?
‘Ray and Jordan are really starting to take charge of the floor and play within the offense and they are doing a great job,? Brown said. ‘I think their success is also that all of the other guys are stepping it up and we are doing a much better job playing as a team.?
‘The team is very excited about the wins and continue(s) to work hard to keep up the success we are starting to have,? he added. ‘I really enjoy coaching such great young men.?
