After a season full of limits pushed and traditions started, the Wildcat cheer team ended its season at the regional competition on Feb. 23. Oxford finished 10th out of the 12 teams in the region.
To get their final score of 730.54, the ladies scored 223.00 in the first round, 214.94 in the second and 292.60 in the third.
“We had an amazing season and we are so thrilled with all this team and this entire program has accomplished this year,” Head Coach Alanna Weber said.
With this final meet behind them, the Wildcats are now saying goodbye to the team’s 16 seniors, who filled out half of the roster and served as the team’s four captains. But, Weber isn’t worried about the girls who are getting ready to don the Wildcat uniform again in the sideline season this fall.
“We have no doubt our underclassmen have learned from our senior and will be ready to lead this team again next year,” Weber said. “We are already starting to plan for next year.”
Aside from their regionals appearance, the ladies finished fourth in their district and took home the OAA White title this season. So far, senior captain Brenna Maurer has signed on to cheer in the fall with Alma College. A few other Wildcats are still weighing their options when it comes to college cheer.
